By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Bail has been denied for a man accused of killing a Waltham police officer and National Grid utility worker in a hit-and-run crash last month. On Thursday a judge cited what he called Peter Simon’s long criminal history as a reason to keep him behind bars until trial. Prosecutors allege Simon was driving a stolen pickup truck on Totten Pond Road December 6 when crashed into a police detail helping National Grid work on a gas leak. He then allegedly pulled a knife on another officer and stole his police cruiser.
