HOLLISTON – A man convicted of killing a Massachusetts State Police trooper from Holliston more than four decades ago has been denied parole.
The Massachusetts Parole Board on Monday rejected the parole request of Jose Colon, who was convicted in the 1983 shooting death of Trooper George Hanna. In its decision, the board stated that Colon has not fully accepted responsibility for the crime.
Colon was originally sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. However, a 2024 ruling by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court determined that individuals who were under the age of 21 when they committed a crime cannot receive life sentences without the possibility of parole. Colon was 20 years old at the time of the killing.
