HOLLISTON – Holliston is recognizing National Recovery Month throughout September with local events and displays raising awareness about addiction and recovery.
The Holliston Alcohol & Drug Awareness Coalition is highlighting 358 purple flags displayed on the lawn of the First Congregational Church. Each flag represents one of the 358 fewer opioid-related overdose deaths recorded in Massachusetts in 2025 compared with 2024.
Despite that decline, 978 people died from opioid-related overdoses in Massachusetts last year.
Later this month, community members are invited to an Interfaith Recovery Service on Tuesday, September 23rd, at 6:30 PM at the Fatima Shrine.
The events are part of National Recovery Month, which recognizes people in recovery while raising awareness about substance use and available support.
