HOPKINTON – The operator of Golden Pond Assisted Living reportedly told Hopkinton’s Health Director that unusually warm weather was responsible for the extreme temperatures inside the facility around the time an 86-year-old resident died. A letter obtained by WCVB says Golden Pond’s Director of Operations cited “drastic changes in New England weather” after town officials inspected the facility and concluded the HVAC system was not working properly.

National Weather Service data reportedly shows temperatures outside were below 70 degrees on the day the woman died, while her room was measured at 99 degrees.
