BROCKTON – A Massachusetts man has been granted parole after serving 27 years in prison for his role in a triple shooting that stemmed from a drug-related robbery in Brockton.
Carlos Araujo was convicted after three people were shot in the head during an encounter that escalated quickly when a gun was pulled. The violence left three victims dead in what authorities described at the time as a robbery plan that spiraled out of control.
According to the parole board, Araujo has had no violent incidents during his nearly three decades behind bars. Officials cited his disciplinary record, rehabilitation efforts, and time served in deciding to grant him parole, saying he has demonstrated significant change.
The decision reflects the board’s assessment that he has earned a second chance under the state’s parole standards.
