MILFORD – A man accused of stealing and altering a check worth more than $30,000 from a Milford business has been arrested in New Jersey.
Milford Police say the check, belonging to Countryside Healthcare, was reported stolen last winter after investigators determined it had been intercepted in the mail. Authorities allege the suspect altered the payee information before cashing the check just days later.
Following what police described as an extensive investigation, detectives identified a suspect living in New Jersey. Local authorities there located and arrested the man last week.
He is currently awaiting extradition to Massachusetts to face charges.
