MILFORD — Milford Post 59 put together a dominant performance in its 2026 home opener Thursday night, defeating Cherry Valley Post 443 by a 10-0 score at Fino Field.
Milford jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first inning before adding four more in the second. Post 59 continued to pile on with one run in the third and three in the fourth, cruising to the shutout victory.
Milford finished with 10 runs on seven hits and played error-free baseball behind a strong pitching effort from Brady Wajda.
Wajda earned the win on the mound, tossing a complete-game shutout over five innings. The right-hander allowed just three hits while striking out six and walking two. Wajda also hit one batter and faced 20 hitters in the impressive outing.
At the plate, Nick Pedroli led the offense, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Jackson Fournier continued his hot start to the season, finishing 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Sam Schoenberg added a hit and scored three runs, while Brayden Lewis collected a hit, scored once, and drove in an RBI. Ben Maiorano contributed a hit and an RBI, and Josh Bouchard added a run-scoring hit as Milford received production throughout the lineup.
The Milford offense was patient and aggressive, drawing six walks while also swiping two bases. Brayden Lewis and Schoenberg each recorded stolen bases as Post 59 consistently applied pressure on the bases.
Cherry Valley was limited to three hits in the contest. Ramon Romero accounted for one of the team’s biggest offensive highlights with a double, while Jeffrey Guzman and Andrew Lancette each recorded hits. Matthew Alves drove in Cherry Valley’s lone RBI opportunity, but Post 443 was unable to break through against Wajda.
Milford improved to 2-0 on the young season with the victory, outscoring its first two opponents 26-0. Post 59 has now combined strong pitching and timely hitting through its first two games and will look to carry that momentum into its next District 4 matchup.
