MILFORD — A new indoor entertainment destination is preparing to open in Milford this September, bringing what organizers describe as the world’s first indoor dry-slide and air court park concept to Massachusetts.

Slick City Action Park will open its first Massachusetts location in Milford under the leadership of local entrepreneur Elliott Field, offering a mix of high-speed dry slides, sports courts, an arcade and attractions designed for a wide range of ages.

Field joined MyFM 101.3’s The Zone to discuss the upcoming opening and what local families can expect when they walk through the doors.

“Slick City is the world’s first indoor dry slide and air court park,” Field said. “We have some speedy, thrilling attractions, slides, that are much like a water park, but there’s no water.”

The Milford location will feature a large lineup of signature slides, including Turbo Twin, Big Wave, Riptide, Twister, Mega Launch, Viper, Zig Zag, Hyper Loop, Avalanche, Fast Lane, Cowabunga, Royal Flush and Tail Spin.

Field said some attractions are designed around spinning or launching riders into the air, while the Riptide is aimed more toward thrill seekers with a steep drop before sending riders back upward.

Beyond the slides, Slick City Milford will include a sport court, dodgeball court, junior jungle, net course, three-tier pyramid play structure and arcade. Field said the Milford location will feature the largest arcade among Slick City parks to date.

A café will also serve food including pizza, pretzels, nachos and hot dogs.

While many indoor entertainment centers focus primarily on children, Field said Slick City is intended to offer something for parents, teenagers and adults as well.

“You don’t need any special skills to do it,” Field said. “As long as you can trust gravity to do its work, you can have fun here.”

The Milford location also plans to offer adult nights, giving older visitors an opportunity to experience the attractions without children in the park.

Field said Milford’s location near Interstate 495 and within roughly 10 miles of the Massachusetts Turnpike made the community attractive as Slick City looked to establish its first New England location.

The indoor format also allows the park to operate year-round, something Field said can be especially valuable in New England when weather limits outdoor recreation.

Slick City Milford is also being designed as a destination for birthday parties, field trips, group outings and community gatherings. Field said the facility will have space to host as many as 17 parties at one time, and field trips are already being planned.

The opening represents the culmination of nearly two years of work for Field.

“It’s been a long, stressful journey to get here,” Field said. “Seeing it come together, seeing the colors go up, the slides go up, the paints get done, it’s just so exciting.”

An exact opening date has not yet been announced because construction and final approvals are still being completed. Field said the goal is to open as early in September as possible.

Slick City was founded in 2021 and opened its first location in Denver in 2022. The company now has more than 150 locations signed, under construction or operating nationwide.

For Field, the Milford park is ultimately about giving the region an entertainment option it has not had before.

“There’s nothing like it around,” Field said.
