MILFORD — Runners and walkers will take to the streets of Milford later this month for the annual Milford 5K Road Race, Walk and Kids Dash, with proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Massachusetts and its Milford athletes.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19 at Milford High School, 31 Fountain Street. Registration begins at 8 a.m., followed by the Kids Dash at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K at 9 a.m. Awards are scheduled for 10:15 a.m.
The cost is $20 for runners and walkers, with day-of registration increasing to $25. The Kids Dash costs $10.
The 3.1-mile course will begin near the gymnasium entrance behind Milford High School. Runners will head out toward West Fountain Street before traveling along Congress Street, North Vine Street and Highland Street, eventually returning to the high school and finishing near the gym entrance.
Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers across multiple age divisions, ranging from runners under 19 through older age groups.
The annual race gives local runners an opportunity to compete while directly supporting Special Olympics programming. Event information says all race funds benefit Milford athletes of Special Olympics Massachusetts.
