Hopkinton High School and Middle School hosted their annual basketball event in honor of local alumna Mary Beth Korbey, whose courageous battle with cancer left a lasting impact on the community. The tournament, which supports the Mary Korbey Scholarship, saw 64 teams participate, ranging from young athletes in grades 3-4 to adult players. In total, 13 champions were crowned across various divisions based on age and gender, celebrating the diverse talent in Hopkinton.
Following the championship games, a skills event showcased individual prowess. Competitors were evaluated on free throws, three-pointers, a 30-second shootout, and layup drills, culminating in 19 individual awards that further recognized excellence across age and gender categories.
This heartfelt event not only commemorated Mary Beth Korbey’s enduring legacy but also reinforced the community’s commitment to fostering athletic talent and supporting worthy causes. Hopkinton’s collective spirit and participation continue to make a significant impact, ensuring that Mary’s memory lives on through every dribble and shot.
