HOPEDALE – Hopedale’s next police chief will officially take office on July 1st.
The Select Board recently selected Ricardo Lima to succeed retiring Chief Mark Giovanella. Lima brings more than two decades of service with the Hopedale Police Department, beginning as a part-time officer and dispatcher in 2003 before becoming a full-time officer in 2005.
He was promoted to sergeant in 2010 and lieutenant in 2024. Lima says he hopes to continue building on the department’s recent growth and expansion efforts under Chief Giovanella’s leadership.
