Varney and McGovern Silence Framingham in 1–0 Victory

The Nipmuc Warriors baseball team eked out a 1–0 win over Framingham last Friday in a classic pitchers’ duel. Starter Nate Varney fired 4.1 scoreless innings, scattering just two hits and fanning two batters. Varney’s mix of off-speed pitches and fastball command kept Framingham’s lineup off balance through his outing. After Varney was pulled, Cole McGovern entered in relief and preserved the shutout, yielding only a single hit while striking out two more batters to close out the game.
