FRAMINGHAM — Framingham Post 117 scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning Thursday night to complete a dramatic 10-9 victory over Main South Post 341 in a back-and-forth American Legion Baseball contest.
The two teams traded runs throughout the evening, combining for 19 runs and 21 hits. Main South built an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Framingham chipped away and eventually tied the game before both offenses continued to exchange blows over the middle innings.
Framingham entered the ninth inning tied at 9-9 before pushing across the decisive run to secure the walk-off win.
The Framingham offense was led by Matty Johansson, who finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Zack Deptula also had a strong night, going 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored, and two RBIs.
James Winders contributed a pair of hits, drove in three runs, and scored once, while Ben Morse collected three hits and scored three times. Ryan McAuliffe added a hit, two RBIs, and a run scored, and Jaxon Fertel chipped in a hit and an RBI.
Framingham totaled 10 runs on eight hits while drawing key contributions throughout the lineup. The team also stole four bases, with Morse swiping two and Winders and McAuliffe each recording one.
Main South matched Framingham’s offensive output for much of the game, finishing with nine runs on 11 hits. Cooper LeBlanc paced the attack with a 3-for-5 performance, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Aiden O’Connor went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Mike McGurn added two hits and two RBIs.
Brayden Allaire contributed a double, two RBIs, and a run scored, and Caden Lane collected two hits and scored twice for Post 341.
Nick DeRosa earned the win in relief for Framingham, allowing two hits and no earned runs while striking out four over the final three innings. Joey Secatore started and worked six innings, striking out four.
Despite the loss, Main South’s offense remained productive throughout the contest, but Framingham capitalized on its final opportunity in the bottom of the ninth to secure one of the most exciting victories of the young season.
