GRAFTON — Grafton Post 92 finished the District 4 American Legion Baseball regular season on a high note Tuesday night, cruising to a 10-0 five-inning victory over Cherry Valley Post 443.
Grafton wasted little time taking control, scoring two runs in the first inning before adding one in the third and breaking the game open with a seven-run fourth. Post 92 finished with 10 runs on 13 hits, while holding Cherry Valley to just one hit.
At the plate, Haylan Oberg led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a triple, double, two runs scored, and an RBI. Charlie Law added two hits, scored once, and reached base three times, while CJ Chagnon finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Zach Otis drove in a team-high two runs, collecting two hits, while Kellen Caron scored twice and added an RBI. Storm Ellison doubled and drove in a run, and Kyle Brown, Luke Stevens, and Michael Nicalek each contributed a hit. Silas Chin crossed the plate twice as Grafton received offensive production throughout the lineup.
On the mound, Charlie Law was dominant, tossing four scoreless innings while striking out three and walking four. Michael Nicalek worked the fifth inning to complete the combined one-hit shutout.
The victory pushes Grafton into the No. 3-seed for the District 4 playoff tournament, where they will face the No. 6-seeded North County Post 193 in the 1st round. The game is slated for 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 16.
