GRAFTON – A Good Samaritan is being credited with helping prevent a fire at the Grafton Public Library from causing more damage.
Fire officials say the fire started around 12:30 Tuesday morning in a flower pot outside the library, apparently after someone discarded a cigarette that had not been completely extinguished.
A person driving by spotted the flames, stopped and pulled nearby trash cans away from the fire before putting out some of the flames. Firefighters arrived and extinguished the remainder.
Library officials say the building suffered only minor damage, which will be covered by insurance.
