Bellingham Police K9 Louie to Receive Protective Vest

BELLINGHAM – Bellingham Police K9 Louie will soon have some additional protection while working alongside officers in the community.

The nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is providing Louie with a bullet- and stab-protective vest through its charitable program. The vest is expected to arrive within approximately ten weeks.

Louie’s vest was sponsored through Vested Interest in K9s and will be embroidered with the message “In memory of Chris Caramela.”

Since its inception, the nonprofit has provided more than 6,631 protective vests valued at approximately $6.9 million to law enforcement K9s across all 50 states. The program is supported through private and corporate donations.
