Wrentham Voters Head to Polls for School Debt Exclusion Vote

WRENTHAM – Residents are voting today on a debt exclusion that would fund construction of a new Roderick School.

School officials say the current building, which opened in 1968, requires major upgrades including a new roof, HVAC system, plumbing, windows, and other infrastructure improvements. They argue that renovation would be especially costly because of asbestos, PCBs, and other hazardous materials present in the building.

The proposed project carries a price tag of approximately $56 million, with officials estimating that about half of that amount would be reimbursed by the Massachusetts School Building Authority. Polls remain open until 8 p.m. at Delaney Elementary School.
