MILFORD – Students return to school in Milford Wednesday, and police are asking drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians to make safety a priority as traffic increases around schools.

The Milford Police Department’s School Resource Officers and Special Operations Unit will be back in the schools, while the Patrol Division will once again conduct “Operation Safe School Zone” to enforce traffic laws around school areas.

Police are reminding drivers to obey posted speed limits and be prepared for new or changing traffic patterns. Pedestrians should only cross streets at designated crosswalks, while bicyclists are reminded that they cannot ride on sidewalks.

Above all, police are asking everyone traveling around Milford’s schools to slow down, remain alert and watch for students as the new school year begins.
