Mendon Exploring Future Public Water System

MENDON – Mendon could eventually develop its own public water supply system following the results of a multi-year study. According to a consultant’s report presented to the Select Board, approximately 150 homes, businesses, and schools could potentially be served by a future water treatment facility located along the Mill River.

The study, funded through grants and conducted over more than three years, found the water source to be exceptionally clean, including no detectable PFAS “forever chemicals.” Consultants are now expected to develop a conceptual plan outlining what a municipal water system could look like and what steps would be needed to make it a reality.
