MENDON – Mendon officials will discuss license plate reader technology Wednesday night as several neighboring communities move away from Flock Safety cameras.
The Mendon Select Board is scheduled to discuss whether the town should follow communities including Hopkinton, Bellingham and Grafton, which have recently taken steps to end or discontinue their relationships with Flock Safety amid concerns surrounding the technology and management of data collected by the cameras.
According to the Mendon Commons, Mendon does not currently use the Flock Safety system. Instead, officials are looking to determine how the town should approach automated license plate reader technology going forward.
Depending on the direction taken by the Select Board, the issue could eventually be brought before Mendon Town Meeting for further consideration.
