Hopkinton’s boys tennis team stayed perfect yesterday afternoon with another strong team performance, defeating Medfield 4-1 to move to 2-0 on the season. The Hillers once again showed why they are expected to be a factor this spring, winning across multiple spots in the lineup and controlling the match from the start.
Joe Krattenmaker delivered a dominant first singles performance, winning 6-0, 6-0. Owen Gormley followed with a 7-5, 6-4 win at second singles, giving Hopkinton a strong one-two punch at the top of the lineup. In doubles, Chavdar Kamenarov and Matt Lecrone won 6-2, 6-0 at first doubles, while Daniel Anjoorian and Nicholas Nel added another point with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at second doubles. Hopkinton’s only loss came at third singles, where Aarav Bhollla dropped a competitive three-set match, 4-6, 6-3, 6-10.
The win follows a season-opening 4-1 victory over Ashland, where the Hillers also lost only at third singles. That consistency has given Hopkinton a strong early-season identity, with dependable singles play and steady doubles pairings helping the team start fast.
The Hillers now face Algonquin today at 4 p.m. Algonquin enters at 1-2 after a 2-3 loss to Wayland, giving Hopkinton another chance to keep its unbeaten start alive against a team looking to bounce back.
