UXBRIDGE — Uxbridge Public Schools is offering a new round of fall tennis clinics for both youth and adults, giving local residents an opportunity to learn the game, improve their skills and stay active throughout the early fall.

The Uxbridge Tennis in the Parks programs will be held on Saturdays from Sept. 12 through Oct. 24, with no class on Oct. 17. A rain date is scheduled for Oct. 31.

Youth participants can enroll in the Learn to Play program, designed for brand-new players, beginners and returning novices. The clinics will be led by a USTA-approved coach and will focus on the fundamentals of serving, rallying and playing through a player-centered, games-based approach.

Each youth participant attending their first session will also receive a free age-appropriate tennis racket and ball.

Youth sessions are divided by grade level. Grades 1-2 will meet from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., grades 3-5 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and grades 6-8 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

An Adult Practice and Play program will also be offered from noon to 1:30 p.m. The adult clinic is intended for players who have completed at least one Tennis in the Parks session or a similar introductory program and are ready to continue practicing, improving and gaining match experience.

The registration fee is $65 for the Youth Learn to Play program and $75 for Adult Practice and Play. Financial assistance is available upon request.
