MILFORD – A Massachusetts state trooper who received probation for shoplifting from Target stores in Milford and several other communities has now lost his certification to serve as a police officer. Zachariah Kent was sentenced to nine months’ probation last spring after allegations that he stole more than $1,000 worth of golf balls by using self-checkout without scanning them.

Kent’s probation is scheduled to end soon, but the Daily News reports that his license from the state’s Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission expired in October and he has not applied to renew it.
