Special Election Will Decide Funding for Major School Renovation

MILLIS – Millis voters will head back to the polls on Monday, December 8, for a Special Election that will determine whether the town officially approves a tax increase to pay for its share of a major renovation at the Middle-High School.

Earlier this month, Town Meeting voters backed the proposal to raise taxes to fund about $57 million—which represents roughly half the cost of a $125 million renovation project. The remaining portion will be covered by the Massachusetts School Building Authority, which has agreed to reimburse approximately half of the total cost.

The renovation would mark the first major upgrade to the school in 60 years, and town officials say the Special Election is the final step required for the project to move forward.

Polls will be open December 8, and passage requires a simple majority.
