HOPKINTON – Residents may notice a significant public safety presence around Hopkinton High School and Hopkinton Middle School Saturday, but officials say it will be part of a planned emergency training exercise.

On Saturday, August 29th, from 9 AM to 3 PM, personnel from the Hopkinton Police, Fire, Communications and School departments will participate in a joint training exercise at the two schools.

Officials say the exercise is part of an ongoing multi-department effort to strengthen the town’s response to major emergencies. Police, firefighters, dispatchers and school personnel will train together to test coordinated response protocols and communication between agencies.

The training will include preparation for several types of critical incidents, including active shooter scenarios, allowing participating departments to practice how they would work together during a real emergency.
