Grafton Middle School Roof Replacement Planning Moves Forward

Grafton Middle School is a step closer to getting a long-awaited new roof after Town Meeting voters overwhelmingly approved $425,000 to design the project. The building’s roof has not been fully replaced since the school opened in 1963.

According to the Community Advocate, the decision follows an assessment earlier this year that described the roof as being in “dire need of replacement” with “catastrophic failure dangerously evident.” Officials opted to pursue full replacement rather than continue temporary fixes.

Once the design phase is complete, Grafton may be able to work with the Massachusetts School Building Authority, which could assist with funding toward the estimated $4.75 million project cost.
