Lake Chauncy is temporarily closed due to blue-green algae in the water. Westborough Public Health Director Jennifer Sullivan announced Monday that the closure was for all water-related activities, including swimming, boating, and fishing because the algae known as cyanobacteria can produce toxins that pose serious health risks to people and animals. She says the Town is monitoring the situation closely and will reopen Lake Chauncy once it has been determined that water quality conditions are safe. Dozens of waterways across the state are being hit with these algae-related closures.
