The Northbridge Rams softball team split midweek action, dropping a 14–2 decision to Blackstone Valley before bouncing back in dominant fashion with a 26–0 mercy-rule win over Blackstone-Millville RVT. Payton Smith’s five RBIs powered the Beavers offense in the first game, handing Northbridge its sixth loss. But the Rams answered emphatically against the Chargers, scoring in every inning of the five-frame contest. Isabelle Stanley stole the spotlight with a grand slam and a two-run homer, seven RBIs in total, fueling Northbridge’s offensive explosion. Contributions came from across the lineup, as multiple Rams drove in runs and swiped bases. The pitching staff and defense complemented the offense by yielding zero runs. Northbridge improved to 8–7 and currently sits 23rd in the Division 4 playoff bracket. This Thursday at home, the Rams face North Brookfield, a team mired in its own struggles, before tackling a tough Friday rematch against Hopedale. For Northbridge, these matchups offer the chance to solidify a winning record and improve seeding ahead of postseason play.
