By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Officials are reminding you about the dangers of assuming ice on rivers or lakes is thick enough for activities. Grafton Police and Fire have posted guides on their Facebook pages after seeing a lot of residents venturing out for skating and ice fishing which many towns including Grafton do not actually sanction. They say never go onto the ice alone, remember that ice formed over flowing water is 15% weaker, and ice seldom freezes at the same rate so can be one foot thick in one spot and only one inch thick 10 feet away.
