Hopkinton Fire Chief Introduces Sand and Socks Program for Senior Safety

By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Hopkinton’s Fire Chief wants to make sure seniors know about a program to help stay safe in the cold months. Gary Daugherty says the Sand and Socks program is a collaboration with the Hopkinton Senior Center and Department of Public Works to help keep you from slipping inside your home and outside of it. It provides seniors with non-skid socks for inside and buckets of sand for your sidewalks and driveways. And the firefighters who deliver the socks and sand will offer a home safety inspection.
