FRANKLIN – The Franklin Fire Department has announced the promotion of longtime firefighter and paramedic Mike Berthiaume to the rank of Captain.
Berthiaume joined the Franklin Fire Department in May 2015 as a firefighter/paramedic and was promoted to lieutenant in 2023. He began serving as an acting captain late last year before receiving his permanent promotion in July.
Before joining Franklin, Berthiaume served as a firefighter/paramedic with the Town of Bourne. In 2015, he received the Massachusetts State Medal of Valor for his actions during an active shooter incident.
The promotion marks the latest step in Berthiaume’s more than decade-long career with the Franklin Fire Department.
