MENDON – Firefighters from seven communities responded Friday to a structure fire at a business on Hastings Street near Emerson Street in Mendon.
The Mendon Fire Department called in off-duty firefighters and requested mutual aid from neighboring departments, including engines from Blackstone, Hopedale, and Uxbridge, a water supply unit from Douglas, tankers from Hopedale, Millville, and Uxbridge, and a ladder truck from Northbridge.
Crews were able to contain the fire to solar panels on the roof, preventing it from spreading into the main building or nearby structures. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
