HOPEDALE – The Hopedale Fire Department says a brush fire Monday afternoon burned approximately 1.25 acres in the Parklands area near the rustic bridge. Officials say the fire began around 1 p.m. and spread quickly because of gusty wind conditions.
Mutual aid crews from Mendon, Milford, Upton, Bellingham, and Westborough responded along with crews from the State Department of Conservation and Recreation Bureau of Forest Fire Control. Fire officials are reminding residents not to discard cigarettes outdoors and noted that open flames are prohibited in the Parklands.
