The Franklin football team turned in a dominant performance Saturday night, routing Stoughton 43-6 behind a strong offensive showing and a big night from Owen Essam.

Franklin took control early and continued to pull away throughout the game. Quarterback Ethan Edmunds helped set the tone in the second quarter, scoring two touchdowns as the Panthers built a commanding advantage.

Franklin put the game out of reach in the third quarter, with Essam coming up big for the Panthers. Essam scored two touchdowns on the ground during the quarter, helping balloon Franklin’s lead and put the game firmly in the win column.

The Panthers’ defense also kept Stoughton in check, allowing just six points in the convincing victory.

Franklin will face its next major test Friday night when the Panthers host undefeated Milford. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Franklin.

With Milford entering the matchup unbeaten, Friday night’s game should provide Franklin with a challenging test as the Panthers look to carry the momentum from Saturday’s rout into their next contest.
