MENDON – Mendon is continuing its effort to build a fully staffed, 24-hour career fire department.
The town recently hired two additional firefighters after voters approved an increase in the number of full-time positions during the Annual Town Meeting.
Fire Chief Michael Sundin told the Mendon Commons the department now has five career firefighter/paramedics, with a sixth expected to join soon, along with four career firefighter/emergency medical technicians. The chief said the long-term goal is to add two more full-time firefighter/paramedics during the 2028–2029 fiscal year.
