NORTHBRIDGE — Northbridge Post 343 broke the game open early and never looked back Wednesday evening, cruising to a 17-1 victory over Vernon Hill Post 435 in five innings.
Northbridge scored five runs in the first inning, added six more in the second, and tacked on four in the third to build an insurmountable lead. The offense finished with 14 hits while taking advantage of five walks and several extra-base hits.
Jack Marino led the charge, going 3-for-3 with four runs scored and an RBI. Alex Vosburgh also collected three hits, driving in a run while crossing the plate three times.
Cody Veneziano turned in another big performance, finishing 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while JP Bolduc drove in two runs and scored twice.
Northbridge’s lineup was aggressive on the bases as well, stealing five bases and consistently putting pressure on Vernon Hill’s defense throughout the afternoon.
On the mound, JJ MacDonald earned the start, allowing no runs on two hits over two innings while striking out four. Evan Pupka closed out the final three innings, surrendering just one run and striking out two to secure the victory.
The dominant win showcased Northbridge’s balanced attack, with contributions throughout the lineup and another strong pitching performance as Post 343 improves to 11-8 this season, good for 5th place in a crowded District 4 standings.
