Bellingham Police Say Weekend Shooting Was Accidental

BELLINGHAM – Police say a reported shooting Saturday in Bellingham was accidental.

Officers and firefighters responded to a home on Indian Run Road, where they found a 76-year-old man suffering from a single gunshot wound.

According to the preliminary investigation, the man, who is a licensed firearm owner, accidentally discharged the weapon while handling it.

He was flown to a regional trauma center for treatment. Authorities have not released an update on his condition.
