NORTHBORO, MASS. — American Legion Post 234 ran into a tough challenge Tuesday night, falling to Shrewsbury Post 397 by a score of 19-4.
Despite the final score, Northboro found some bright spots offensively. Grady Bishop led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 and scoring a run. Liam Murphy and Jason Hojlo each contributed an RBI hit as Post 234 worked to keep pace against a potent Shrewsbury lineup.
Northboro battled throughout the contest, but Shrewsbury’s offense proved difficult to contain. While the Northboro pitching staff worked to limit the damage and keep the game within reach, Shrewsbury continued to add runs and gradually built a lead that became too large to overcome.
Post 234 will look to regroup and get back in the win column Wednesday night when it takes on Vernon Hill Post 435.
With plenty of games still ahead on the summer schedule, Northboro will aim to use the quick turnaround as an opportunity to put this contest behind them and return to the form.
