NORTHBRIDGE – The long-awaited rehabilitation of the Mendon Road Bridge is expected to begin this summer, but drivers should prepare for a lengthy closure. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has awarded a $2.2 million contract to MIG Corporation to fully renovate the 67-year-old bridge.
The project is expected to take approximately 15 months, meaning detours could remain in place until Fall 2027. The bridge was closed last summer after inspectors determined it was no longer safe for travel.
