Northbridge Softball Winning Streak Stopped at Three

Northbridge’s softball team played a competitive game yesterday afternoon against Auburn, but the Rams came up just short in a 6-4 loss that snapped their three-game winning streak. Northbridge battled throughout and stayed within reach, making it a game that was decided by a few key moments late.

Savannah Shumate led the Rams by scoring two runs, while Isabelle Stanley added two hits to help keep Northbridge’s offense moving. The Rams were in position to challenge down the stretch, but Auburn’s Riley Casagranda came through with two RBIs and Reese Dickey added a triple and a run, which proved difficult to overcome. Northbridge also committed two errors, and those mistakes helped tilt the game in Auburn’s favor.

Even with the loss, the Rams have shown enough early-season fight to suggest they will remain competitive. Northbridge is now 3-4 on the season, and the defeat ends a solid run after three straight wins. The Rams will look to regroup quickly with a road matchup against Grafton next, which should give them a chance to get back in the win column.

Grafton is 0-7 and is coming off a 20-3 loss to Shrewsbury, so Northbridge will be expected to capitalize. The Rams will want cleaner defense and timely hitting as they look to reset before facing Blackstone-Millville next Tuesday.
