Northbridge Post 343 Holds Off Post 397 for 5-3 Victory

NORTHBRIDGE — Northbridge Post 343 used a pair of multi-run innings and a dominant outing from starting pitcher Luke Charron to earn a 5-3 victory over Post 397 Monday night in American Legion Baseball action.

Northbridge improved its record by scoring three runs in the fourth inning to erase an early 1-0 deficit before adding two more insurance runs in the sixth. Post 397 mounted a late rally with two runs in the seventh but came up just short.

Charron was outstanding on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings while allowing just four hits and three runs, none of which were earned. He struck out 11 batters and walked just one to pick up the win. JP Bolduc recorded the final two outs to secure the victory.

Offensively, Northbridge received contributions throughout the lineup.

Alex Vosburgh drove in two runs while collecting a hit, and Jake Maturo also finished with two RBIs. Matt Coughlin added an RBI single, while Cody Veneziano, Jake Costello, JP Bolduc, and Matt Coughlin each recorded a hit. Northbridge also stayed aggressive on the bases, with Cody Veneziano stealing a base.

Post 397 managed just four hits but kept the game close throughout.

Bryan Herlihy led the offense, finishing 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Connor Mudd, Tommy Kursonis, and Owen Michalowski each added a hit, while Drew O’Connell drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.

On the mound, Farazad Hussein started for Post 397, allowing three runs over three innings. Brayden Lizewski worked the next 2.2 innings before Tommy Kursonis recorded the final out.

Northbridge totaled six hits and committed one error, while Post 397 finished with four hits and two errors in the tightly contested matchup.
