MILLBURY – A new bike repair shop is now serving the Blackstone Valley, as Sutton Bike Works officially opened its doors in Millbury, providing a much-needed resource for local cyclists.
The shop, owned by Monique Trammell, celebrated its grand opening with a two-day event that included a ribbon cutting attended by local officials, members of the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce and community supporters. Reflecting on the moment, Trammell said “It was about a two day event… we had quite the crowd out front… it was kind of exciting for our whole family.”
Sutton Bike Works offers a full range of repair services for all types of bikes, including road bikes, mountain bikes, e-bikes and older models. Trammell brings more than 20 years of experience in the bicycle industry, along with a team of skilled mechanics focused on keeping riders on the road.
“There’s been a huge need for a bike shop in this area… for several years now,” Trammell said. She noted that many nearby shops have closed or are nearing retirement, making local access to repairs more limited for riders across the region.
Beyond repairs, the business is deeply rooted in community involvement. Trammell previously founded a local cycling group that has grown significantly over the years.
“Today, there’s over 1,000 local women in Worcester County Women’s Cycling Group,” she said.
As a woman-owned business, Sutton Bike Works also aims to create more opportunities within the cycling industry.
“My dream is to have a female mechanic program here at the store and help bring other women into the industry,” Trammell said.
The shop operates on a walk-in basis, allowing customers to bring their bikes in without an appointment for faster turnaround times. Riders can find store hours online and visit during open hours to get service.
Located at 4 South Main Street in Millbury, Sutton Bike Works plans to further engage the community with upcoming weekly group rides, including road, mountain and gravel options.
