MILFORD – The Milford Cultural Council has opened its application process for grants supporting community-oriented programming in the arts, humanities and sciences.
Applicants can seek funding for projects and events taking place between July 1st and December 31st. The deadline to submit an application is Thursday, October 15th.
The council will prioritize proposals involving visual arts, including public art and instruction, as well as music, performing arts, sciences and youth participation in creative cultural activities. Preference will also be given to well-researched proposals that primarily benefit Milford residents, reach a large portion of the community, recognize Milford’s cultural diversity and do not rely entirely on council funding.
“Interest in the Local Cultural Council grant program continues to grow. Last year, the Milford Cultural Council received 44 grant applications and awarded funds to 28 proposals that supported a broad range of community projects and events in Milford,” states MCC Chair Geri Eddins. “We encourage individuals and groups, especially Milford residents, to submit applications for programming that would contribute to the cultural vitality of our community.”
Grant application tips are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese on the Milford Cultural Council’s town webpage. The council is also planning question-and-answer sessions at the Milford Town Library, with dates expected to be announced soon.
Following the October deadline, council members will review applications and notify applicants of their decisions at the end of December. Approved recipients are expected to receive their full grant payments in February 2027, once state funding has been received and required paperwork is completed.
The Milford Cultural Council is part of Massachusetts’ network of 329 Local Cultural Councils and works to support arts, humanities and science programming that contributes to the cultural life of the Milford community.
