The Medway girls’ co-op Alpine ski team, which included skiers from Millis, Holliston and Norton, brought home the program’s first state championship with an emphatic performance last Wednesday. The compact squad finished with a collective time of 5:44.22, edging second-place Wellesley by roughly three seconds, a meaningful margin in Alpine skiing where fractions separate finishers.

The co-op was efficient across both slalom and giant slalom runs and did not produce a finish outside the top 50 among the 142-skier field. Charlotte Richmond led the co-op’s individual placings with a top-six slalom finish, while Maggie Morton also posted a strong giant slalom result. The small roster did not limit the team’s competitiveness as each skier delivered consistent runs that added up to a convincing team total.

Bringing the first state title back to these towns is a milestone for the program and a credit to coaches and athletes who maximized limited numbers with quality performances. The group will aim to defend its crown next season, but first will celebrate a historic achievement that no one can take away.
