SALISBURY — A Massachusetts State Trooper is in serious condition after his cruiser was struck on I-95 South Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities say around 2:15 p.m., the trooper had pulled over with his emergency lights activated to remove a ladder that was blocking the left lane of traffic. After clearing the debris, he returned to his cruiser and buckled up when another vehicle slammed into the rear of the marked State Police unit.
The trooper was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. Officials say the driver who hit the cruiser is facing multiple charges, including negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failing to move over for an emergency vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation.
