Nipmuc’s girls’ basketball team delivered a dominant performance Tuesday night, overwhelming the Worcester North Polar Bears 57-15 in a lopsided showing from start to finish. The Warriors set the tone early, coming out with energy on both ends of the floor and building a 21-9 lead heading into the second half.
Rather than easing up, Nipmuc tightened its grip after the break. The Warriors outscored Worcester North 34-6 in the second half, turning a comfortable lead into a runaway victory through consistent defensive pressure and balanced scoring. Nipmuc’s ability to force turnovers and convert opportunities allowed it to maintain control throughout the night.
Senior captain Kira DeBaggis led the way offensively, scoring 19 points to pace the Warriors. Fellow captain Savvy Carr added 11 points and was a disruptive presence defensively, recording eight steals. Lucia Dominguez provided a strong scoring boost as well, finishing with 13 points in relief as Nipmuc continued to rotate players and maintain intensity.
The win sends the Warriors into their next matchup with momentum. Nipmuc will host the Auburn Rockets tomorrow at 7 PM in a game that should provide a tougher test. Auburn enters with an 8-5 record and a five-game winning streak, including a 74-12 victory over Worcester North. Nipmuc will look to carry its defensive focus and balanced effort into that matchup at home.
