HOPKINTON – Town officials are asking residents to help keep fire hydrants clear and accessible following the recent heavy snowfall. The manager of the Hopkinton Water Department says the depth and widespread nature of the snow is making it difficult for crews to maintain access to all 864 fire hydrants across town.
Officials are urging homeowners to shovel out any hydrants near their property and make sure they remain visible and usable in case of an emergency. They also stress that piling, plowing, or snow-blowing snow onto a fire hydrant is against the law and could result in a fine. Keeping hydrants clear helps firefighters respond quickly and safely if a fire breaks out.
