MILFORD – The Town of Milford is once again warning residents and businesses about fraudulent emails and text messages impersonating town departments and requesting payments.
According to a notice from the Town, officials continue to receive reports of messages falsely claiming to be from the Planning and Engineering Department and requesting payment for permits, applications or zoning fees.
The Town says it will never request payment through a wire transfer, cryptocurrency or a peer-to-peer payment app such as Venmo.
Anyone receiving a suspicious message should not click links, open attachments or reply. Residents with questions about whether a payment request is legitimate should contact the Town of Milford directly using official contact information.
