The Milford Scarlet-Hawks opened their season with a 48-31 loss to North Attleborough, a game in which Milford struggled to match the Rocketeers’ pace and defensive pressure. Milford’s Manny Vilbrun provided a bright spot with 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks, while Matt DaSilva contributed eight points, three rebounds and four assists.

Ryan Burns battled on the glass, pulling down 14 rebounds to help the Scarlet-Hawks secure possessions, but Milford could not convert enough trips into points against a physical North Attleborough team. The Rocketeers’ pace and execution forced Milford into difficult looks and limited the Scarlet-Hawks’ chances to climb back into the game.

Milford gets a quick turnaround and will host Stoughton tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. Stoughton opened the year with a 59-54 win over Sharon and will present another early-season challenge. Milford’s coaching staff will emphasize ball movement and finishing at the rim as the team prepares for a chance to reset and respond in the early weeks of the schedule.
