In a rematch of last year’s final, the Medfield Warriors exacted revenge and captured the Division 3 crown with a 1-0 win over previously undefeated Nipmuc. Medfield entered the game with a 17-1-0 record and had outscored playoff opponents 28-2 on its march to the final. Nipmuc arrived at 17-0-1 and had outscored opening-round foes 14-2.

Medfield struck midway through the first half when Devon Weafter finished a well-constructed attack to give the Warriors the lead. Nipmuc’s Cate Tengler nearly leveled the match moments later, but her effort slammed off the crossbar and stayed out. The second half featured several Nipmuc chances, including dangerous free kicks, but the Warriors’ defense and goalkeeper held firm.

Ultimately, Medfield’s solitary goal stood up, and the Warriors celebrated a narrow but decisive victory that ended Nipmuc’s unbeaten season. The result avenged last year’s 1-0 loss in the final and underscored how tightly contested the top of Division 3 has been. Both programs leave the fall with plenty of positives, and Medfield will carry the championship momentum into the offseason.
